Review: Sleek BB Cream 'Medium'

Hey Guys
please be sure to visit my new blog fionabrianne.blogspot.co.uk

Happy New Year! I can't believe how fast time has flown...still, here we are.
I know how much I have neglected to blog over the past few months and I am sorry, I will try my hardest to keep the blog up. But just as a reminder, in case you want to catch me more regulary, you can check out my Twitter and my NEW Youtube channel; my old Youtube channel is still live as well!

So, review time. Today, I am going to review the Sleek BB cream, which I picked up in around November.

The packaging
The product comes in a nice sleek box, but I was extremely impressed with the actual tubing. Its a thick almost solid plastic- which makes it easier to dispense, without a load shooting out. In all the product look far more expensive than it actually is. My favourite part of the packaging is the  flap cap top, which clicks shut, preventing product waste/spillage.
I am in the shade medium, and swatched on my hand, it looks as if the product is not the right colour for my skin; however me feet and hands are at least one shade lighter than my face. In the store I swatched a little on my cheek and went to out and about to shop just to see its true colour outside and test its wear.

Fresh faced, without makeup

APPLICATION
To show you two ways which I apply my BB Cream I will demonstrate its coverage using a Foundation brush and my fingertips.

Method 1: Foundation Brush ( Sigma Makeup F60)

To apply, I add a drop on the back of my hand, warm the product and apply from the centre of my face, brushing outwards in diagonals to cover all skin and not leave any holes
 RESULTS
BB Cream on left side of my face
The application with the foundation brush gives me a medium to full coverage, some of my acne scars are still visible, but I would usually cover these further with concealer. Since the BB Cream is more on the thick side, it takes alot longer to apply with a brush.

Side without BB Cream

 Method 2:  Fingertips

To apply, I add product to the back of my hand and use my three middle fingers ( pointer, middle, ring) to apply from the inside of my face working product outwards by dabbing. For under my eyes, I dab with my ring finger only.

RESULTS

For me, the fingertip application applies a lot easier and it gives me a more flawless finish, especially around the eye area. The product 'melts' into my skin easier and I don't feel cake-y.
Full face

Powder

To set my BB cream I prefer to use a translucent powder so that the colour remains true. I apply this with my large powder brush (Sigma F30) and use the Collection 2000 Setting Powder

Wear of BB Cream ( combination skin)
The product lasts around 7 hours for me before I begin to feel oily. To stop this I either take off the product or use oil absorbing sheets. I would definitely recommend using a face primer beneath this makeup ( I use Nivea Express face primer) and the powder on top.

Availability
The product is £8.99 and available at any Sleek stand which is usually in Superdrugs or any local Afro-Caribbean hair shops( from my own experience) It can also be purchased online at http://www.sleekmakeup.com/face/bases/be-beautiful-blemish-balm

Overall, I am in love with this product, its the perfect balance between a tinted moisturiser and a foundation. The application means it can be used daily. The only negative would be its thickness, which could make it a little suffocating to skin during the hotter months

Anniversary GlossyBox! | May 2012

Hey Guys!

It's GlossyBox Time!
It's been been one year since the first GlossyBox so this month is the Anniversrary Edition. I've only been subsribed since October 2011, so I missed out on the absolutely amazing first box which included a full sized Nars product. So,I'm not going to lie, I was expecting a great box, with hopefully a full sized well known product. Unfortunately there wasn't one and to be honest, it isn't amazing, but its still quite a good box.

To see me unbox the box from start to finish, click the video below!

Whats in my Graze Box (1) + WIN A FREE BOX

Hey Everyone!

This is the first edition of Graze boxes that I have received, now that I have subscribed to their weekly service.

WHAT IS GRAZE?
For all of you who don't know, Graze is a subscription service that offers four different snack sized and healthy treats, delivered as often as the subscriber chooses.

HOW DO IT WORKS?
The service is based on the items the subscriber selects on their profile under the different categories of food such as 'nuts, 'breads' 'olives' etc.

There are four options
BIN: Never want to receive the item
LIKE: Maybe already tried the item and like its taste
TRY: Never tasted but willing to try
SEND SOON: An item you really like the look of so, you would like to try it in your next box

After doing this, every box sent to you has items based on your preference.

So this is what I got in my first box!

This is what the box looks like opened, with the four snacks in separate plastic containers. I love the cherry background. #cute!

1) Apple and Cinnamon Flapjack pieces
This has to be my favourite at first glance because I LOVE flapjacks. It was also the only option which I included in my 'SEND SOON' section, so I knew I would receive it. The flapjacks are nice and crumbly, sweet and moist. The cinnamon is more prominent but its soo good!

2) Strawberry Milkshake
I was a little put off at first by the banana pieces which were squishy and didn't look to nice at all. But together with the dried strawberries and white chocolate buttons, it was okay. To me, this was slightly too sweet. I had this open for about three days in a cool dry place, and by the third, the banana pieces were shriveled and didn't look appetizing at all.

3) Lost Army
I can only describe this as oriental trail mix. There are heaps of different tastes in this: salty, bitter, bland. It wasn't really for me to be honest. It is okay at first taste, but like all cracker mixes, after that much salt, the taste is just bland and it made me feel a bit sick.
4) Ancient Forest Nuts
Most disappointing out of the four, but the most basic. I think its just because its plain ole' nuts! Nothing special, although I wish I ground them up and put them in a date and walnut cake loaf or something

HOW TO WIN A FREE GRAZE BOX
If you fancy a try of this box all you have to do is:
1) Subscribe to my Youtube Channel www.youtube.com/littlestvoicexx

3) This isn't a necessity, but I would love if you 'LIKE' the video as well( just for some love?)

Book Haul| Feb 2012

While I was shopping for a few necessities, I picked up a few new books/magazines so I thought I would just share what I got!

First of all, I thought I might as well pop into my local WHSmith to see if I could pester the shop assistants to change the shelves; thankfully, I didn't need to and the new rack of February 2012 issue
s were out!
So I picked up the Fanning Sister covers; this month's ELLE and TEENVOGUE

ELLE MAGAZINE-FEBRUARY 2012-DAKOTA FANNING

TEEN VOGUE-FEBRUARY 2012-ELLE FANNING

This made me laugh^^( shes soo precocious)

One thing that disappointed me about this months Teen Vogue was the amount of adverts. I understand that it is prom season but as I flipped through the issue I just saw a lot of ads rather than content. I'm also noticing how thin Teen Vogue is becoming in comparison to issues that I began to buy way back in '06.

Just a rant :p #likestomoanalot

But anyway, I also went into The Works for some crafting materials and I was attracted to their huge annual January sale. The Works in itself is cheap, but a sale was even better. I picked up three books( I would have chosen more, but my shelf at uni is heaving as it is :s).
First of all I picked up two exercise books in the '5o Best' range.....

They were both only £3!

The first is my FAVOURITE new read. It's called the '5o Best Pilates Exercise'. I was actually recommended to pick up Pilates by my doctor back at home after my back problems begin( yes, I have back problems, and it REALLY hurts!). I never got round to it because of school and whatever else( procrastination, ahem!) but now I have alot of time on my hands in between uni, I decided I could give it a go!

50 Best Pilates Exercises:Parragon

The next book is from the same range and is called '50 Best Fitness Exercises' which has an aim to tone( I recommend this book for all of you who have become dumplings over Christmas- at least you won't have to buy a gym membership)

50 Best Fitness Exercises: Parragon

Both books have amazing high quality photographs of the exercises in step-by-step format to ensure your doing everything correct.

Both have formal introductions about the 'Body and Mind' to help you focus on basics and help you decide what exactly you want to achieve.

And finally! last but not at all least, my favourite find out of the bunch. I was browsing from the last chance section of books at the back of the store when I spotted this gem in the corner. It's a little dirty and the cover has a crease but I had to have it!

Breakfast At Tiffany's- The Official 50th Anniversary Companion:Pavilion

I've taken a few of my favourite pages from the book as a preview. This is honestly the perfect gift to a Holly Golightly fan- if only a I knew someone who was obsessed with her-still, that means I get to keep it.

Even Audrey has flaws-Photoshop back in the day

Music sheet to 'MoonRiver'

Movie stills while in production

Script Excepts

Every chapter has theme

Coffee break for Audrey during shooting

Oh and this was only £4=STEAL!

I am in LOVE with books!
